If you love music, we have the Natchitoches/Northwestern Symphony, the NSU Jazz Orchestra, an annual International Piano Series, brown bag lunches, street dances, concerts, dinner theater, plays, opera, and faculty/student recitals. If you love sports, we have NSU athletics, hunting, water-skiing, rowing, and fishing. You can choose from Cane River Lake, Sibley Lake, Red River, and nearby Clear/Black Lake and Toledo Bend for excellent fishing. While most are aware of our Christmas Festival, there are seven major annual events plus Mardi Gras and our Main Street Program won one of four 2006 national awards. Our brand new 38,000 sq ft downtown Events Center is busy booking additional events. We have two golf courses and Cypress Bend Resort is a short drive away.
